Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying or Civil Technology, or equivalent field training with 4 years of survey experience on roadway construction projects
2+ years experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Equipment is an asset
Access to a personal vehicle/valid licence is required with ability to travel to project sites out of town
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of industry experience with strong preference for highways, transportation, or heavy civil projects
Diploma in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying or Civil Technology, with registration as a P. Tech / CET, or other applicable certifications considered an asset
Field experience in transportation construction specifically for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and/or City of Calgary preferred
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to track issues, correspondence, and quantities; proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software applications
Aerial / Drone Mapping survey experience
Railway Survey experience (Railsafe Training)
Standard First Aid training
Technical competence and attention to detail
Effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Being versatile and dependable to support our field teams on project delivery

Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Surveyor/Survey Technologist to support our Transportation business line in the Calgary office. This position offers the opportunity to work on large, unique, and complex transportation projects across Central and Southern Alberta, as well as neighboring provinces and territories.
This is a high-travel role with a strong likelihood of working outside the Calgary area. Depending on the project location, candidates may either commute daily or be required to stay in hotel accommodations for extended periods.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Setup and operation of survey equipment, Total Station, RTK-GPS, 3D laser scanners etc.
Control point setup
Topographic survey, collection, and data processing
Construction staking and field measurements
Volume calculations
File / data transfers (import and export)
Maintain survey equipment
Interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications relative for survey work
Support construction teams by producing grade files, stakeout, checking grades, performing QA/QC, and generating construction quantities
Survey scope estimation to support proposal submissions
