About the position

We're giving you the keys to the machine. As our Lead Applied AI Engineer, you'll build up and lead the engineering team responsible for internal tooling and automation. You'll own the mandate to build and ship AI-powered internal tools that make our hiring, finance and ops workflows 10x faster. You'll work at the frontier of what's possible with LLMs, AI agents, and emerging AI tooling, and apply it where it matters most: inside our own company.

Key Responsibilities

• Build up and lead a high-performing engineering team - hire well, set technical direction, and keep your team shipping fast

• Build and ship AI-powered internal tools fast - we're talking days and weeks, not quarters

• Evaluate, integrate, and chain the latest AI models, APIs, and frameworks (LLMs, agent frameworks, embedding pipelines, AI coding tools) into production-ready internal solutions

• Work closely with non-technical teams across the company - understand their workflows, identify bottlenecks, and turn operational pain points into automated solutions

• Create compounding leverage - every tool you build should free up hours across the entire company

Requirements

• Technical background with real building experience - CS degree, bootcamp, self-taught, we don't care as long as you've shipped things that work

• Hands-on experience building with LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, and modern AI frameworks - you're not just reading about it, you're building with it daily

• Proven track record of building software, tools or automation end-to-end - from scoping the problem, writing the code, to deploying and maintaining it in production

• Experience leading small technical teams - you know how to set direction, keep people unblocked, and ship fast without introducing unnecessary process

• Strong communicator who can translate between technical and non-technical worlds - you're comfortable sitting with ops, finance, or HR, understanding their pain points, and turning them into engineered solutions

• Bonus: experience with tools like LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI API, Make, n8n, Retool, Supabase, or similar - but we care more about your ability to pick up any new AI tool in a weekend
