The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced M&A lawyer to join our market-leading Corporate practice in Jakarta, led by Vik Tang - a Band 1-ranked lawyer with deep expertise in cross-border transactions across Asia and the UK, as International Counsel.

This is a strategic hire to support our thriving Corporate M&A practice. You'll work directly with our Jakarta-based partners and Corporate lawyers across other international offices on high-profile, complex outbound transactions across various sectors including financial services, consumer goods and projects/energy.

What you'll do

• Work across a range of corporate transactions including M&A, joint ventures, project developments, commercial contracts and regulatory for both Asia and cross border transactions.

• Play a key role in transactions, including drafting and negotiating documents and managing due diligence workstreams.

• Project manage transactions to ensure that key deadlines are met, and deliverables are anticipated, including working closely with other legal teams across the firm to deliver an integrated service to our clients.

• Manage and build client relationships, including assisting with business development activities, events, pitching, marketing and thought leadership.

• Work with our knowledge and Digital Legal Delivery teams to leverage AI and other technology to improve legal delivery tools and enhance efficiency.

To be successful in this role, you will have/be:-

• Qualified lawyer in common law jurisdiction with at least 3 years post qualification experience in a private practice environment.

• Solid experience in general corporate work, M&A and cross-border transactions from international law firms(s).

• Be able to demonstrate excellent drafting, analytical and deal project management skills.

• Have excellent English language skills, having Bahasa language capability will be desirable.

• Proven ability to navigate regulatory frameworks and engage with local stakeholders.

• A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

• Be enthusiastic, adaptable and industrious, with excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
