ROLE OVERVIEW

The IT Systems & Operations Engineer will be a hands-on technical contributor within our internal IT team, based in Spain. You will combine systems and SaaS administration projects with day-to-day IT operations, employee support, and AI-enabled workflow automation.

A key focus of the role will be exploring how AI can improve internal processes. You will help build and test AI agents, support integrations, and contribute to the adoption of new AI tools across the company. We are not looking for an established AI Lead. Instead, we are looking for someone with strong practical interest and hands-on exposure to AI who is ready to develop deeper expertise and progressively take greater ownership of these initiatives.

You will also support endpoint management, employee onboarding and offboarding, systems documentation, and core workplace technologies. As your knowledge of our environment grows, you will provide backup coverage for our other Spain-based IT Engineer during periods of absence.

You will work closely with our global IT team and US-based colleagues. You should therefore be comfortable working until approximately 6-7 p.m. Spain time on a regular basis to overlap with the US team during their morning hours.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who already has a solid foundation in IT operations, enjoys learning through hands-on work, and wants to grow their systems engineering and AI automation capabilities within an international technology company.

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Contribute to AI readiness and adoption projects across the company, with guidance and support from the wider IT team.
  • Help build, test, and maintain AI agents and workflows that automate internal processes and improve employee productivity.
  • Explore practical AI use cases and support the integration of AI tools with internal systems and data sources.
  • Develop knowledge of MCP servers and contribute to their configuration and administration where relevant.
  • Help administer core workplace SaaS platforms, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, Notion, and other internal tools.
  • Support systems integration and migration projects, including M&A-related initiatives.
  • Assist with the maintenance of directory services and personnel data integrations across company systems.
  • Support the configuration and day-to-day administration of SSO, IAM, and role-based access controls.
  • Work with GRC and Security teams to help maintain appropriate and compliant IT system configurations.
  • Create and update internal IT documentation, including materials used by our external MSP.
  • Provide IT support to employees across Spain and the broader EMEA region.
  • Support device provisioning, endpoint management, MDM administration, and the lifecycle of company-issued hardware.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning, access changes, and equipment coordination.
  • Progressively develop the knowledge required to provide backup coverage for our other Spain-based IT Engineer during PTO and other absences.
  • Collaborate with global IT colleagues and escalate complex technical issues when appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Around 2-3 years of relevant experience in IT operations, systems administration, workplace technology, technical support, or a related area. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Hands-on exposure to AI tools, agents, automation, or AI-enabled workflows. This may have been gained through professional experience, training, experimentation, or relevant personal projects.
  • A genuine interest in developing deeper knowledge of AI tools, integrations, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience administering or supporting some common workplace SaaS platforms, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian, or Notion. Expertise across all these platforms is not expected.
  • Working knowledge of at least two common operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  • Some experience with endpoint management, device provisioning, or MDM tools.
  • Experience providing employee IT support and assisting with onboarding or offboarding processes.
  • Basic familiarity with SSO, IAM, SAML, directory services, or RBAC concepts, together with an interest in developing these skills further.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, document solutions, and identify when an issue should be escalated.
  • A proactive, curious, and service-oriented approach, with the ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working until approximately 7 p.m. Spain time on a regular basis to overlap with US colleagues.
  • Fluent English and the ability to collaborate effectively within an international team.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Practical knowledge of MCP or experience experimenting with MCP servers through professional, training, or personal projects.
  • Experience creating AI agents, automations, or integrations using APIs, scripts, or low-code platforms.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Entra ID, Okta, or OneLogin.
  • Exposure to systems migrations, M&A integrations, or SaaS implementation projects.
  • Basic scripting knowledge using tools or languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience working with Security, Compliance, or GRC teams.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or certifications in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Administration, or Software Development
