ROLE SUMMARY
AstraZeneca is pioneering the next generation of respiratory care, leveraging our deep heritage and a robust biologics pipeline to transform the lives of patients with chronic airway diseases. This high-impact therapy area addresses significant unmet medical needs in upper and lower airway conditions, including Asthma, COPD, Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP), and other future Indications.
The Medical Advisor, Biologics role ensures the delivery of high quality and impactful scientific engagement, medical education, evidence support, transform care and field insights generation in alignment with the respiratory and immunology TA priorities. The role is also responsible for driving the execution of medical activities and building advocacy with the relevant specialties across Saudi Arabia - Western Region in the assigned disease area.
You will act as a trusted partner to healthcare professionals, multidisciplinary centers of excellence, and cross-functional teams assuring that science, clinical precision, and patient outcomes remain at the core of every initiative.
This role requires strong therapeutic knowledge in biological therapies and airway diseases, scientific acumen, and the ability to connect field-based insights to the broader business and medical strategy during this critical phase of portfolio growth and new launches.
This role is responsible for a highly strategic product and disease area that involves working extensively with external stakeholders to forge strong relations and foster scientific and strategic partnerships within major hospitals and institutions/ authorities in their assigned territory and non-traditional stakeholders (E.g. policy and decision makers, payer groups, government, researchers, and others to help bridge the gaps and provide health system solutions.
What you'll do
Field Medical Excellence
- Execute the Biologics Medical Affairs Plan in alignment with guidance from the TA Lead and cross-functional brand teams.
- Deliver scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and decision-makers to support the appropriate use of AstraZeneca's biologics portfolio.
- Drive the implementation of disease education, Multidisciplinary initiatives and patient identification projects for the current portfolio, while preparing the market for future indications.
- Support the rollout of launch readiness and lifecycle management activities for the assigned biologic therapies.
Scientific Engagement and External Collaboration
- Build strong peer-to-peer relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs) of the targeted specialties within Saudi Arabia Western Region to advance disease area understanding, patient management and inform medical strategy.
- Organize, support, and present in scientific meetings, advisory boards, and symposia as a subject-matter expert in the assigned disease areas.
- Actively contributes to speaker training, CME partnerships, and scientific programs aligned with the biologics' medical strategy.
- Gather and communicate actionable, scientific insights that inform the KSA local strategy and identify new opportunities for data generation or biologic access improvement.
Evidence Generation and Data Dissemination
- Support the planning and operationalization of local studies, biologic registries, and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) in coordination with the TA Lead, Evidence Generation, and Clinical Operations teams.
- Contribute to the development and review of scientific materials, ensuring accuracy, balance, and compliance with SFDA regulations.
- Disseminate emerging clinical data regarding biologic efficacy and safety to internal and external stakeholders in an ethical and scientifically objective manner.
Cross-Functional Medical Support
- Partner closely with Market Access, Health Economics and Payer Evidence, Commercial, and Regulatory teams to ensure scientific and medical integrity in all activities across the KSA.
- Provide evidence-based medical input to hospital formularies, value communication, and payer interactions where appropriate.
- Deliver medical training and scientific support to internal colleagues (e.g., sales, market access, or respiratory specialty teams).
Compliance and Medical Governance
- Ensure all activities comply with AstraZeneca ethical standards, SOPs, and Saudi Arabian local regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain up-to-date training on Ethical Interactions, GPEI, and any other Biologics-specific policies.
- Accurately document medical interactions, adverse event reports, and insights in compliance systems.

Essential Capabilities:
- Bachelor's degree in medicine or pharmacy is required
- Post-graduate master's degree is an advantage
- 2 or more years of experience in Medical Affairs roles, preferably within Respiratory and Immunology biologics.
- Experience supporting new launches.
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific data into clinical value for specialist physicians.
- Deep understanding of the Saudi Arabian healthcare system, including referral patterns, regulatory authority and access pathways.
- Excellence Communication, Influence, Planning and Organizational skills.
- Full understanding of the medical role in driving innovative value strategies, Health Economics & Payer Evidence.
- Strategic and growth mindset with demonstrated business acumen.
Desirable Capabilities:
- Experience supporting early-access programs and PSPs.
- Established track record of basic or clinical research.
- Active contribution to medical education or respiratory registry collaborations.
- Familiarity with real-world evidence (RWE), market access dossiers, or diagnostic collaborations.
