Role Title: Senior AP Accountant (9-month contract)
As a Senior AP Accountant you will join our Global Accounting Team based in our Singapore office. You will report to the Accounts Payable Team Lead and work closely with colleagues across Global Accounting, T&E, Payroll, Office, and our head office in Amsterdam, as well as local stakeholders across APAC entities.
You will be a subject‑matter expert for Accounts Payable in the region, combining hands‑on operational AP work with ownership of more complex topics such as country‑specific requirements, controls, and process improvements. You will help ensure timely, accurate, and compliant invoice‑to‑pay processing for our APAC entities, and you will coach more junior colleagues where needed.
Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organisation, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.
Key Responsibilities
Operational excellence (core AP)
Complete daily operational AP tasks in a timely manner to help maintain integrity and reliability of the purchase‑to‑pay processes and related products.
Review, validate and post supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring appropriate coding, approvals and compliance with internal policies and local tax requirements (paperless process where applicable).
Process MM (PO‑based) invoices with exceptions, investigate mismatches, and collaborate with requestors and Procurement to resolve issues efficiently.
Monitor and clear GR/IR accounts for APAC entities, including analysis of aged items, root‑cause identification, and user education where needed.
Prepare and execute vendor payments in line with payment calendars and internal controls, ensuring accuracy, completeness and appropriate documentation.
Stakeholder support & issue resolution
Act as a primary point of contact for AP‑related queries from internal stakeholders (e.g. Office, T&E, Payroll, local finance) and external suppliers in the region.
Provide timely support on invoice and payment status queries, proactively communicating delays or issues and driving resolution end‑to‑end.
Partner with GL Accountants for APAC entities on month‑end close topics (e.g. AP accruals, reconciliations, GR/IR clean‑up, vendor aging), ensuring accuracy of AP‑related balances.
Ownership, controls & process improvement
Take ownership for selected AP processes and/or countries in APAC (e.g. entities in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Australia or others as assigned), ensuring adherence to global AP policies, SOx controls, and local regulatory requirements.
Support the design, execution, and documentation of key controls within AP, contributing to strong internal control over financial reporting.
Share proactively with the accounting team best practices and improvement ideas, and document updated ways of working to support knowledge transfer within the team.
Participate in regional initiatives and projects and support global accounting or broader finance projects (for example: SME initiatives, policy harmonisation, insourcing initiatives, tooling changes or automation), ensuring AP requirements are represented and implemented effectively.
Contribute to training and informal coaching of AP colleagues, especially on complex topics such as local requirements, GR/IR analysis, and exception handling.
What you'll bring
Experience & knowledge
Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, with strong hands‑on exposure to Accounts Payable and a solid financial background.
Experience working in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment (preferably regional or global) and with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Good understanding of AP controls and month‑end close activities (e.g. accruals, reconciliations, aging analysis).
Experience with ERP systems and AP workflows; SAP and/or similar large ERP is an advantage.
Skills & competencies
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify issues in transactional data and drive them to resolution.
Solid stakeholder management and communication skills in English - able to explain accounting topics clearly to non‑finance colleagues and build strong working relationships across functions and countries.
Proactive, ownership‑driven mindset: comfortable taking responsibility for a process or country scope and continuously looking for ways to simplify and improve.
Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively across multiple entities and deadlines, especially around month‑end peaks.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
Education & qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA) is a plus but not required.
