Responsibilities and Duties
There will be many measures of success to the role, however, at a high-level they fall into the following key areas. Requiring a very hands-on approach in the startup phase but will mature into a more established team over time.
Lead All Accounting Activities
Generating financial reports using income and expenditure data, creating budgets, bookkeeping ledgers, business plans and financial statements
Tax planning with reference to current legislation
Ensure proper record keeping related to any tax incentives (individual or corporate) that are enabled
Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations (e.g., VAT, WHT, etc.)
Ensure bookkeeping and accounting in accordance with local and regional laws and guidelines, company policies and compliance requirements; stay up to date on financial reporting law and best practices
Complete year-end and regular audits
Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transaction
Ensure compliance with Booking Holdings Accounting Policies and other guidelines issued by Booking Holdings
Build and Manage Financial Reporting Governance
Define and establish reporting standards and timelines for key financial data; ensure delivery of all reporting requirements according to the defined deadlines
Oversee and enhance information provided to leadership for business decisions
Respond to requests from colleagues and management in an efficient and timely manner for various types of reports and analysis
Coordinate with corporate and regional Tax, Accounting, Finance, FP&A, Treasury and Audit teams
Ensure all aspects of Indian COE are embedded into the company's financial planning process
Ensure as Company Secretary that all business procedures are matching with legal provisions, including but not limited to filing annual returns, releasing statutory declarations, managing statutory books, etc. in line with duties as per Companies Act and Income Tax Act.
Lead and Improve Financial Operations
Oversee the daily management of the Center of Excellence which includes the interaction with the business partners, finance colleagues, and the direct supervision of the COE finance team, ensuring all objectives for finance are realized
Prepare standard, ad hoc reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) each period for the business and finance management
Review and monitor SLA related services to identify trends and problem areas, reporting on risks and proposed corrective action or new approaches
Drive continuous improvement and simplification efforts in reporting, financial processes, and tools
Lead Planning and Forecasts
Lead the preparation of the financial forecasts and budgets for respective functions, including the identification and quantification of opportunities and risks
Proactively identify business drivers to support the budget and forecast assumption
Facilitate the negotiation and agreement of key operational metrics and inputs
Support any scope change request or any project, contributing with information for the business case
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
Company Secretary certification (Nice to have)
15+years of Finance and Accounting experience
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role, managing a team
Previous leadership experience in a Center of Excellence, Shared Services Center, or similar customer-facing type of environment will be a plus
Deep understanding of offshore COE and shared services organizations and models
Previous experience of working with local units of large U.S. publicly listed companies
Previous experience as Company Secretary
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations - particularly laws or regulations specific to Indian Finance and Accounting law
Strong skills in reporting, budgeting, bookkeeping, tax planning
Highly developed skills in external and internal financial reporting, application of accounting principles and tax regulations, financial decision making and internal control
Strong commercial and decision support experience in different aspects of financial management including financial planning and analyses, forecasting, and management reporting and analytics
Working knowledge of SAP and other financial tools
Strong understanding of and experience with process mapping and process improvement
Ability to motivate and develop others, including working thought other teams and managers
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills, and attention to detail
International experience: Self-awareness of communication style and cultural differences
Self-motivated and capable of operating independently with limited oversight. Strong sense of personal accountability for work tasks.
