About the role
At Frontiers, we are rewriting the rules of scientific publishing. To support our scale, we are transforming our Engineering Platform into a state-of-the-art Internal Developer Platform (IDP) based on modern principles and AI-augmented workflows. We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to lead this evolution. You will act as the "Face" of Platform Engineering, bridging the gap between our technical capabilities and the needs of our Stream-Aligned Teams. You will form a strategic triad with our Senior Cloud Architect and Engineering Team Leads, co-creating a roadmap that delivers continuous, iterative value.
Responsabilities
- Be the Face of Platform Engineering: You will proactively engage with stakeholders (Engineers, Team Leads, and Architects from Stream-Aligned Teams) on a daily/weekly basis. You will partner with them to understand their roadmap and anticipate their needs across the entire SDLC, identifying tools and capabilities that streamline workflows and accelerate delivery.
- Agile Prioritization & Iterative Delivery: You will embrace a strictly Agile mindset. Instead of massive, long-term "big bang" releases, you will slice complex technical initiatives into small, deliverable iterations that provide immediate value. You ensure the team is always working on the absolute highest priority items.
- Consensus-Based Roadmap Planning: You will facilitate joint prioritization sessions with your stakeholders. You will agree with them on what gets built next, creating shared ownership and high engagement. You will manage expectations transparently, explaining why certain requests are deprioritized in favor of others.
- Drive Monthly Stakeholder Updates: You will own the monthly Platform Review. You will present progress, showcase metrics (adoption, speed), and outline the next month's priorities to the wider engineering organization, ensuring visibility and gathering feedback.
- Co-Design with Technical Leadership: Internally, you work lock-step with the Senior Cloud Architect and Platform Team Leads. While you define the "What" (Value) based on stakeholder needs, you trust them on the "How" (Implementation), ensuring feasible and sustainable technical solutions.
- Champion AI-Augmented Engineering: You will explore and drive strategies to integrate AI into our SDLC (e.g., evaluating tools like Cursor AI or GitHub Spec-Kit), ensuring our platform remains at the cutting edge and ready for an AI-augmented future.
- Measure Value & Institutionalize Feedback: You will move beyond assumptions by using structured feedback loops (surveys, RFCs) and data (NewRelic, adoption rates). You will prove that our "Golden Paths" and tools are actually reducing cognitive load and lead time.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in Technical Product Management or Engineering Leadership.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of managing complex stakeholder maps in a large engineering organization, running roadmap reviews, and negotiating priorities.
- Agile Mastery: Deep experience with Agile methodologies, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery in technical environments.
- Modern Tech Stack: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), and modern CI/CD ecosystems (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Language: Professional-level English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have
- Experience facilitating "InnerSource" or community-driven platform contributions.
- Interest or experience in Spec-Driven Development and AI coding assistants.
- Background in Scientific Publishing.
Benefits
- We prioritise office presence and emphasise in-person collaboration, but also offer appropriate adjustments where needed, in line with company policy
- Extra wellbeing days on top of your annual leave allowance
- Up to 3 paid volunteering days each year
- 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme (wellbeing, mental health, legal & financial support)
- Learning & development support via the Frontiers Learning Hub
- Competitive local benefits country dependent (e.g. healthcare and pension/retirement provision)
