ARQUIMEA, we are a technology company operating globally and providing innovate solutions and products in highly demanding sectors.

Our areas of activity are Aerospace, Defense & Security, Big Science, Biotechnology and Fintech.

In ARQUIMEA SPACE develops spaceflight parts and equipment for satellites and launchers. We specialize in thermal control systems, structural panels, optical payloads, avionics, release and deployment mechanisms, and rad-hard microelectronics. Together with our tech partners we provide high-throughput smallsats and their subsystems. Our brand-new factory in Madrid is suited to integrate satellites and constellations.

We are looking for a Payloads System Engineer with the mission of acting as the key expert in space-based telecommunication payloads within the company, leading the definition and implementation of satellite payload solutions across various projects, including a satellite constellation.

Tasks to be performed:

  • Define the end-to-end communication payloads architecture, ensuring traceability from mission objectives to system-level requirements.

  • Define performance requirements based on mission requirements, operational constraints (Power budget, mass & dim budget, Thermal, Radiation) and regulatory compliance.

  • Perform analysis and simulations of link budgets for space environments.

  • Conduct trade-off studies between different subsystems configuration and technologies, ensuring performance vs complexity balance (OT/OC/OQ).

  • Define adaptative resource allocation based on dynamic mission needs.

  • Ensure compliance with requirements for integration with satellite platform.

  • Support Validation System Engineer in the development of the qualification and validation plan (Component level qual, System level validation, End-to-end payload validation).

  • Define on ground and in orbit validation methodologies to ensure compliance with mission performances.

  • Collaborate with AIT engineers to optimize testing sequences, integration procedures and troubleshooting.

  • Subcontractor Management and oversight:

    • Define technical specifications and compliance requirements for payload subsystems suppliers.

    • Assist in RFP preparation.

    • Evaluate technical proposals.

    • Lead regular design review milestones participation (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR).

    • Compatibility verification between subcontractor deliverables and overall payload architecture.

    • Collaborate in schedule tracking to prevent delays in deliveries.

    • Define Acceptance Test Plans for subcontracted subsystems ensuring test reports and validation documentation is aligned with project requirements.

    • Identify critical risks in suppliers.

    • Define contingency plans for delays and non-conformities.

    • Work with system engineers and AIT to implement design modification in case subcontractor deviations.

  • Ensure compliance with space industry standards and protocols.

  • Participate in new product development tasks including planning, task estimation, design, verification, integration, and release.

  • Research and evaluate new technologies and standards in space communications.

  • Evaluate and recommend hardware development process improvements in collaboration with engineering management.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for projects.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure program goals are met.
