This role will report to the Head of US Statutory Reporting and will be a core member of AXA XL's US Controllers team. The Senior Specialist, Financial Reporting & Accounting, will be responsible for the preparation and review of select US statutory financial statements of at least seven legal entities. The ideal candidate will be one that has insurance or reinsurance accounting experience, can work independently as well as within cross-functional team settings and brings a curious mindset to constantly learn and improve the processes within the department. What you'll be DOING What will your essential responsibilities include? Work within a team to prepare, review and file US Statutory financial statements and related schedules within financial reporting timelines Draft and review audited financial statements as well as answering inquiries and providing supporting documentation to external auditors as part of the annual audit. Coordinate with various cross-functional teams and AXA XL's offshore service delivery centers to compile and consolidate the company's financial statements as well as resolve issues. Execute and maintain documentation for key internal controls including periodic reconciliations, analyses and reviews Research emerging and current accounting issues as it relates to Statutory Accounting Principles and apply them to AXA XL's entities Develop an advanced knowledge of the company's various IT applications to apply to quarterly financial reporting processes as well as respond to internal and external stakeholder requests. Be involved in project workstreams associated with accounting requirement changes, reporting for large/complex non-recurring transactions and company-wide change initiatives. You will report to the Head of US Statutory Reporting What you will BRING We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Experienced in progressive US accounting or financial reporting experience. At least three years of US insurance or reinsurance industry work experience preferred. Robust understanding of accounting and financial reporting as it relates to the US property and casualty insurance industry Knowledge and experience in the application of significant NAIC statutory accounting principles and the preparation of risk based capital models Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both cross functionally within teams and independently in the preparation and completion of financial statements and filings. An organized individual who pays attention to detail with the ability to complete time-sensitive assigned tasks clearly and concisely. Microsoft Excel and reporting software proficiency with proven abilities in data manipulation using pivot tables, formula creation and modifications. Should be comfortable working with large amounts of data. Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment. One should possess a curious mindset who is eager to improve existing processes using the latest technological tools provided by the company. Ability to optimize process efficiency through use of automation / AI Bachelor's degree with an accounting specialization. Related accounting experience can be a substitute for degree in related area of study. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent designation preferred. The U.S. base salary range for this position is $92,300 to $161,400 USD. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location.
