About the role
The Sanctions and Screening SME role is positioned in Finom Payments' Second Line of Defence and entails close collaboration with the Transaction Risk Manager, who is responsible for customer and transaction screening. As a subject matter expert supporting the Transaction Risk Manager, you will take an active part in developing a robust, compliant, and scalable screening control framework within Finom. Responsibilities
- Ensure that Finom's transaction and customer sanctions screening frameworks are fit for purpose and compliant in all required areas.
- Identify any gaps or opportunities for improving screening controls and processes.
- Develop mitigation measures for relevant scenarios of sanctions risks with support from the Risk Manager.
- Develop training materials for Compliance Operations and Quality Assurance teams.
- Validate results of internally developed Machine Learning Models before operational release to production.
- Actively participate in process improvement within the department, including drafting and reviewing system requirements for new features relevant to screening and/or sanctions risks.
- Conduct in-depth investigations of potential sanctions risk typologies and propose new controls to mitigate these risks.
- Initiate and take responsibility for ad hoc project work within the department.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required for the operational efficiency of Finom (proactively deemed necessary by the employee) and/or as communicated by the manager.
Who you are
- 3-5 years of proven screening experience in the 2nd Line of Defense in a regulated financial institution, or equivalent experience overseeing screening frameworks in a similar capacity.
- Thorough knowledge of screening requirements and best practices in the financial services industry.
- Track record of owning and delivering screening or sanctions-related initiatives affecting multiple areas of the business.
- Confident user of SQL, with experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Metabase, Looker, PowerBI).
- Familiar with building and maintaining configurations in customer/transaction screening tools (e.g., Refinitiv, Lexis Nexis, Dow Jones).
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated self-starter.
- Comfortable working with and managing stakeholders across various business functions.
- Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
- Start-up oriented, proactive, result-driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
